Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook has had a whirlwind of a 2016-17 season in his hands. From dealing with the departures of teammates Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka to a seamless transition into being the go-to player for the team.

The MVP frontrunner admits the support from fans has been a little different this season, given that it's pretty much a one-man show as opposed to the one-two punch that fans were used to the past eight seasons.

“Fan support has been a little different,” Westbrook told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. “People across the world… still supporting us after different changes on our roster.”

One thing that has made the Thunder endearing to fans is the fact that Westbrook has to go all out each and every night in order to drive the team to a win. Efforts that are seen once a month at most by almost all superstars in the league, are now seen in a weekly, if not on a daily basis from the All-Star point guard — who often comes like a bat out of hell right from the start.

Big market, small market, new market — be it what it may be — fans ultimately know and appreciate effort when they see it, and Russell Westbrook has given them no reason whatsoever to stop cheering for this team as long as he's on the court playing.
