Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook has won the ESPY award for Best Male Athlete.

The one-man show secured an NBA record with 42 triple-doubles this season, beating the previous record by one outing.

Westbrook played at an all-time high pace, averaging a triple-double for the season with 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game — the only other triple-double season since Oscar Robertson in the 1961-62 season.

The 6-foot-3 dynamo consequently won the Most Valuable Player award, beating out fellow candidates James Harden and Kawhi Leonard for the honor.

After a season of carrying the load, Westbrook will now count with the help of All-Star forward Paul George and other added pieces to the equation — changes the Thunder organization deemed necessary in hopes to keep their fourth overall selection home after nine years with the franchise.
