Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney joined forces for an incredible project as they look to bring National Division side Wrexham A.F.C. into the upper echelons of English football. On Wednesday, McElhenney dropped the official trailer for the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series which will be aired on FX, and you can truly see the emotion and passion both he and Reynolds have poured into the project.

If that trailer doesn't make you emotional, then we're not sure what is. Wrexham is a town that, above all else, is dedicated to football. While it's certainly not the flashiest place in the United Kingdom, the one constant within the small town is the passion for football.

As mentioned in the trailer, one Wrexham local states, “Wrexham is a town that battles against odds constantly. But the thing that we love more than anything, is the football club.”

“It's an underdog story,” said Reynolds. “And it's about interconnectivity between the club and the community.”

In the trailer, both Reynolds and McElhenney admitted they had no true connection to the city or the club, but were inspired by a feeling they shared. The two purchased the club before ever even meeting in person, but felt their goals and aspirations were well matched. Reynolds and McElhenney purchased Wrexham AFC in 2020 and have been slowly looking to bring the Red Dragons up the ranks of English football.

It's a tall task, but the two Hollywood A-listers are clearly committed to the project. The documentary will go behind the scenes at the club and in the town, showcasing the beauty that makes up a small footballing community and what the sport can do for towns and people.

Welcome to Wrexham is set to debut on Aug. 24 on FX.
