There's no face, or facial hair for that matter, that's gotten more shine in 2022's March Madness than Saint Peter's guard Doug Edert.

His legend continues for at least one more game after upending another tournament powerhouse in the third-seeded Purdue Boilermakers. As the madness reached its full crescendo, Doug Edert found himself standing atop a table and getting hyped with the Saint Peter's supporters in the crowd – reminiscent of the tabletop celebration by Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

Edert was asked about the “Kobe-esque” celebration after the game. But before he could even answer, Saint Peter's head coach chimed, shocked that his player actually pulled off such a stunt.

“I found a little opening and people started moving stuff so I don't know, I just, I was so excited,” said Doug Edert ever so sheepishly, while side-eying his coach's jokingly disapproving gaze.

“Next question, next question,” he quickly retorted, likely fearing a reprimand in private after the game.

Even fellow fan favorite Alex Caruso couldn't help but react to the swift deflection from the Saint Peter's cult figure.

Saint Peter's will have another top-tier test coming up against UNC, fresh off a win over UCLA thanks to the big-time performance from Caleb Love. If Doug Edert and Co. come out on top in that one, another Kobe Bryant-esque celebration would be more than welcome.
