On Tuesday, the NFL announced Pro Bowl selections for both conferences. Among those was the New Orleans Saints' running back duo of Mark Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara, who became the first pair of running backs on the same team to earn that honor in more than 40 years.

That year, the then-St. Louis Cardinals sent their leading ball carriers Jim Otis and Terry Metcalf to the Pro Bowl.

Kamara and Ingram have formed a potent rushing attack for the Saints that has the franchise in position to possibly contend for a Super Bowl this season.

Ingram is in the midst of a career-best season, with career highs of 1,045 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns along with a career-best 51 catches for 375 receiving yards. He is second in the league in total rushing touchdowns while posting four 100+ rushing yard outings.

Meanwhile, Kamara has quickly become one of the league's most dynamic running backs behind his dual-threat ability in both the running attack and passing game. He has already become just the third rookie running back to compile more than 600 rushing and 600 receiving yards in a single season. The Tennessee product is a serious candidate to earn the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Additionally, Kamara and Ingram are on pace to become the first running back duo in league history to both individually surpass 1,500 yards from scrimmage. This further highlights the Saints' remarkable turnaround behind their rising star backfield.
