Drew Brees caused some controversy on Wednesday with his comments pertaining to players kneeling during the national anthem. Alvin Kamara, who is entering his fourth season with the New Orleans Saints, spoke to Brees about what he did wrong.

On Thursday, Kamara took to Twitter to express his opinion on a video from Fox News personality, Laura Ingraham. Within the video, it shows the segment of Ingraham telling LeBron James to “shut up and dribble” when he spoke about his political views. He wrote:

“This is the reality we live in. This isn’t about pinning black against white, but more so about the narrative that is created when a black person speaks and when a white person speaks. Pay attention. This is why we protest! This is why we take a knee! To be HEARD. Nothing more.”

However, Ingraham went on to say that “He's allowed to have an opinion,” regarding Brees. As a result, Kamara pointed out the double standards that take place when a white athlete speaks about political topics compared to when a black athlete chooses to do so.

Then, after having time to digest what his quarterback said, the Saints running back confirmed that he spoke to Brees:

“I’ve had a day to digest the comments that Drew made. I was disappointed and hurt. We talked and i explained to him where he dropped the ball and he understood. But now it’s time for us to be part of the solution, not the problem. We have to educate to progress.”

After causing a circus on social media from teammates and other players around the league, Brees issued an apology on Thursday. While he shared his regrets for what he said, it remains to be seen if Brees still holds the same opinion that he shared on Wednesday. Nevertheless, Kamara believes that holding a grudge on Brees isn't productive toward the cause.
