Drew Brees’ first game back from his injury wasn’t his greatest. In fact, it was one of the New Orleans Saints QB’s more forgettable outings this season. After sitting out the previous four weeks due to multiple broken ribs and a collapsed lung, Brees was finally ready to suit up again for the Saints on Week 15 but it sure didn’t help that it was Patrick Mahomes and the red hot Kansas City Chiefs on the other end of the field.

The defending champs ended up with a 32-29 win over New Orleans and Brees’ subpar performance was a big reason why. The former Super Bowl MVP tallied his worst QBR this season so far (84.7) and threw one interception and was sacked once. Though he did have 234 yards with three touch downs, it was pretty evident that Brees was having an off night.

“I’ll be honest. I think there’s some things that I’m still kind of working on. But it is what it is,” Brees said after the loss (via ESPN). When asked if he was already at 100%, he responded, “No – but I’m on my way.”

It was also the first time that the beloved quarterback threw 0-6 to start a game in his two-decade long career in the NFL. His passing completion on Sunday (44.4%) was also his third-lowest in his 285 career games.

Brees has less than a week to get to 100% as the Saints are set to host the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers breathing down their necks in the NFC South division, these next two games are must-wins for Brees and the Saints if they want to clinch the division for the fourth straight year.
