The New Orleans Saints are enjoying a dominant seven weeks as they are now situated at 6-1. Things are only going to get better for the team as Drew Brees is also set to make a return to team practices with an objective to return to Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals.

According to ESPN's Mike Triplett, Brees is feeling confident about the condition of his thumb that he's ready to try it out on team practices. However, nothing is still set in stone as the team's unsure as to how his injury will react to the team's arduous practices.

“We'll see how it goes. I'd love to [play]. It's a goal,” Brees told ESPN after the New Orleans Saints won their fifth straight game without him on Sunday at Chicago.

This is the first time since the 2003 season that Brees missed more than a single game in the NFL season. Throughout these years of great health, he's always been able to provide quality numbers from the pocket, notching at least 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns for the Saints.

However, the team hasn't missed his production at all during the five weeks he spent recovering. Teddy Bridgewater has captivated fans with his outstanding play from the pocket. He's led the team to five successive victories and has placed the team in a situation where they can book a spot back in the playoffs.

But with Brees well on his way back from wrist surgery, Bridgewater's days as the Saints' starting quarterback appear to be numbered.
