It's possibly one of the biggest weeks in New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees career but he is trying to downplay it as just another game he is looking to win.
Peyton Manning currently holds the record for passing yards coming in at 71,940 yards. Brees currently sits in third place on the list. only 201 yards behind Manning and all signs point to him breaking it on Monday night football against the Washington Redskins.
Brees has thrown for at least 217 yards in each of his four games this year so all signs point to him breaking it this game.
Brees says he isn't focused on it, rather he is focusing on preparing for the Redskins and winning the game, and he's trying to not treat it like any other game.
“Just trying not to make a bigger deal out of this than it already is,” Brees said when he was asked Sunday night about what his approach will be amid the hoopla via ESPN. “It doesn't affect my approach. Just focusing on winning the next game, whoever that opponent is. … Just focus on my preparation and my process and let the rest take care of itself.”
Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas said he is ready for “Drew Brees Week” and said the team is excited for him whenever he does break the record.
“We're trying to get him wherever he wants to go, we're just trying to take him to the highest level,” Thomas said. “He sets the standard real high for the offense, and we love playing with him, he's our leader. So whatever week it is, every week we're excited for Drew.”
