New Orleans Saints backup quarterback Jameis Winston has only done virtual work with the team this offseason, but he has already impressed the coaching staff. There is no doubt about Winston's talent, but the turnovers a real problem. An aspect of his game that is going to need fixing.

Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael had a conference call with reporters. During it, the number one question being asked was about Winston's turnovers. Carmichael said he thinks once they get on the field, there are improvements that can be made to his game to limit the turnovers.

“I think he’s a talented football player and he’s done a lot of great things in this league already and we’re excited to have him,” the Saints OC said via Pro Football Talk. “Just in these meetings that we’ve been having with these virtual meetings, the one thing that stands out to me right away is that he’s sharp, he’s smart, he has asked the right questions. And so he has that experience and he’s got the ability, you see him throw the ball down field, he’s got excellent arm strength. So there’s a lot to be excited about and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Maybe a change in scenery is just what Winston needs to change his game. Winston is an exciting player but the turnovers have pushed him into the backup role. If Winston were to play this year for New Orleans, and he continued to have the turnovers issues, he might find himself out of the NFL sooner rather than later.
