The New Orleans Saints have their new tight end officially locked up for the next two seasons. Jared Cook has agreed to a two-year deal worth $15.5 million with $8 million of that guaranteed.

Cook is coming off a career-year with the Oakland Raiders. He posted highs in receptions (68) and yards (896), as well as touchdowns (6). Now he'll have the luxury of having Hall of Fame lock Drew Brees as his quarterback.

While the deal may not seem fitting for someone who's posted their best two seasons in back-to-back years, it makes sense.

Cook will be 32 by the start of next season. He's absolutely coming off two of his better statical seasons of his career, but doesn't have the best track record.

That being said, he's a supremely athletic player for his position. He could easily become a favorite target of Brees and end up having two more fantastic seasons in New Orleans.

With that in mind, this deal makes more sense immediately. If the two years go well for Cook, he could see one last solid payday in his career.

While $15.5 million is nice, it wouldn't have been surprising to see the deal worth more money. This seems like Cook is betting on himself to produce in New Orleans.

In two years, he'll still be just 34 and likely get another two or three-year deal before his time is up. If everything goes well, he could see a lot more guaranteed money in his future.

The Saints were one of the best teams in the NFL last season, going 13-3 and making it to the NFC Championship Game. They've always been known for their deadly passing attack thanks to Brees. Adding Jared Cook to a tight end position that was definitely not the strong-point of the offense makes them even more dangerous.
