The New Orleans Saints suffered a disappointing loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night that saw one monumental mistake by rookie safety Marcus Williams on the final play seal his team's fate.

Following the contest, Williams took full responsibility for his miscue on the last play of the fourth quarter that led to a 61-yard touchdown reception by Stefon Diggs. The 21-year-old has also taken to Twitter to voice his appreciation for the wide-range of support he has received since everything unfolded.

It was a huge mistake that Williams has had to come to terms with that directly correlated to his team losing a shot to go to the NFC Championship game. His decision to make the big play on Diggs rather than play the ball and tackle him outright put him out of position to even be a factor once the catch was made.

This will be a play that will be scrutinized and over analyzed over the next several months that he will continue to hear questions about. He will have plenty of time contemplate and move on from the situation, but at the same could use it as a strong source of motivation to make himself a better player on the field because of it.

Although this is a disappointing moment, the Saints have built a team that could have staying power over the next couple of years with balance on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Drew Brees has already expressed that he wants to return to the team next season.

Meanwhile, the front office has done a strong job of building a strong roster through the draft over the last couple of years, which there's an opportunity to add that this upcoming offseason. This is a huge lump for the Saints to take, but the future ahead is certainly bright.
