The NFC South is open for the taking. The New Orleans Saints, who were second in the division last season, have a great shot at getting back to the mountain top of the division.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could cede their power with Tom Brady retiring and losing a chunk of their free agents, of which there are many. Even the one they managed to keep around, wideout Chris Godwin, will be out for a big stretch of the 2022 season due to an ACL tear. By revamping their offense (particularly at the quarterback and tight end spot) they could take the division title.

New Orleans has started setting up for the moves they hope to make. According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Saints restructured the contracts of defensive ends Cam Jordan and Tanoh Kpassagnon to open up over $12 million in cap space.

Jordan, who is coming off of his fifth straight Pro Bowl, is doing the Saints a huge favor. He was a big part of their defense last season, which was one of the better units in the NFL, by leading the team in sacks and quarterbacks hits. New Orleans needs to reward him by making big upgrades so that he can help get them back to the playoffs.

The cap space will become particularly valuable when it comes to re-signing three-time Pro Bowler Terron Armstead. The 31-year-old is one of the best tackles in the league and is someone the Saints can hardly afford to lose. The Saints could also look to add Tyrann Mathieu, who is showing some cryptic interest in joining NOLA.
