Quickly becoming a Swiss Army knife for the New Orleans Saints, it appears quarterback Taysom Hill will remain in the bayou for at least the foreseeable future — assuming all goes according to the team's plan, that is. According to a Monday afternoon report from Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports, the Saints have placed a first-round tender on Hill, which more than likely guarantees that the restricted free agent will remain in New Orleans for the 2020-21 campaign.

The cost of this year's first-round tender is $4.7 million while Hill is still allowed to negotiate with other franchises from around the league at this time. However, the Saints have the right to match any deal that Hill receives from another team and will receive a first-round NFL Draft pick in return if New Orleans is unable to match such an offer.

Now a household name, Hill originally landed with the Saints after the Green Bay Packers nixed him as a result of the team's final roster cuts back in 2017. Once with the Saints, he signed a three-year contract with the heralded NFC South franchise while since becoming quite the useful player in more ways than one for head coach Sean Payton.

A former collegiate quarterback at BYU, Hill has now become a staple of the Saints roster as a special teamer, reserve quarterback, running back and wide receiver — just to name a few. Last season, Hill tallied a total of 46 touches for 390 yards and seven touchdowns while also completing three of his six passing attempts for 55 more yards.
