After playing for three different teams in three years – including a Super Bowl title in his stop with the Philadelphia Eagles last season – Patrick Robinson is coming back to New Orleans. The Saints have the secured the cornerback’s signature on a four-year deal, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Robinson, 30, was initially a first-round pick by the Saints in 2010 and played his first five seasons in the NFL in New Orleans. He made 58 appearances (33 starts) and had nine interceptions with a sack and a forced fumble in during that stint.

Robinson left New Orleans for the San Diego Chargers on a one-year deal in 2015, and signed a three-year pact with the Indianapolis Colts the following year. Unfortunately, he had an injury-hit year for the Colts in 2016 as he played just seven games before getting cut in the offseason.

After that disastrous year, Robinson was forced to take a discounted one-year deal in Philadelphia, and he made the most of it. He played all 16 games and recorded a career-high-tying four interceptions to help the Eagles win the Super Bowl. He also had a memorable 50-yard interception return for a touchdown in the NFC Championship Game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Robinson will now join a resurgent Saints defense which made tremendous strides last season, particularly against the pass. The Saints were targeting a veteran cornerback to add to their secondary and were reportedly interested in Malcolm Butler. However, Butler eventually went to the Tennessee Titans, which was likely why the Saints turned their attention to Robinson.

Robinson will likely be the main candidate to be the Saints’ other starting cornerback opposite reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year Marshon Lattimore next season.
