Since arriving in the NFL, Alvin Kamara has become one of the most tantalizing running backs in the league. Former New Orleans running back Deuce McAllister sees some similarities between the superstar playmaker and Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders.

“That’s high praise,” McAllister said, per The Athletic's Jeff Duncan. “His thighs aren’t as big as Barry’s, but his ability to take contact and his balance, that’s exactly who he reminds you of when he runs.”

At 5-foot-10, 215 pounds, Kamara is slightly bigger in stature compared to Sanders. But their running styles are eerily similar with the way they elude defenders and make themselves skinny to run through holes.

The Saints were fortunate to get Kamara in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. During the draft process, Sean Payton quickly became a fan of Kamara after watching his tape from Tennessee.

From the time he stepped on the field with the Saints, Kamara was a versatile weapon in their high-powered offense. Through two seasons, the Saints running back has been used relatively sparingly in the rushing attack with just 314 carries. What Kamara has done with those carries is impressive, averaging 5.1 yards per rush.

Along with his rushing ability, the elusive back has shown his skill set as a dynamic receiver, even routinely splitting out wide. Kamara has 162 catches in two seasons in New Orleans. Until this season, though, Kamara has been sharing the workload with Mark Ingram. Now, with Ingram gone, Kamara is expected to be utilized even more in the Saints offense.
