The New Orleans Saints were able to sign Emmanuel Sanders this offseason, giving them a No. 2 option alongside Michael Thomas. During a conversation with the media on Friday, Sanders opened up about his relationship with Drew Brees.

Last season, Sanders found himself being traded to the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the trade deadline. However, before he joined the 49ers, his name was connected to the Saints and the Green Bay Packers. And according to Katherine Terrell of The Athletic, Sanders was the one that wanted to sign with New Orleans this offseason.

While Sanders has played with talented quarterbacks in his career, he seemed more than interested to catch passes from Brees. In addition to that, Sanders iterated that he doesn't believe Brees shows his age this late in his career, per Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Advocate.

Following the end of the 2019 season, Sanders knew he was going to test free agency. Despite making the Super Bowl with the 49ers, Sanders was intrigued by the idea of joining the Saints. As a matter of fact, a workout session with Brees led to Sanders contacting New Orleans, per ESPN's Mike Triplett.

In recent years, the Saints have relied upon Thomas to essentially be the sole contributor at wide receiver. Even though Sanders turned 33 years old in March, New Orleans believes he's a much-needed piece for the offense.

Entering free agency, Sanders could have chosen multiple teams that expressed interest in his services. Nonetheless, it appears he always had his mind made up that he was going to suit up with Brees and the Saints.
