The New Orleans Saints might not be finished addressing the quarterback position in light of Drew Brees' official retirement from football.

New Orleans inked Taysom Hill to a voidable extension and later re-signed Jameis Winston to a one-year deal, seemingly setting the stage for a two-man competition. However, there are some indications general manager Mickey Loomis could be on the hunt for another signal-caller.

Saints head coach Sean Payton said Tuesday on “The Dan Patrick Show” that Hill and Winston should be the two competing for the starting job. That said, he did acknowledge the fact there are some options the team is looking at.

Meanwhile, Jane Slater of NFL Network noted New Orleans has become something of a home for quarterbacks hoping to revitalize their careers.

Slater cited Teddy Bridgewater as a guy who parlayed a brief stint as Saints starter into a deal with the Carolina Panthers last spring. Of course, New Orleans saw enough from Winston to re-sign him this week.

Is former Chicago Bears starter Mitchell Trubisky on the radar?

Slater suggested the Saints could take a gamble on Trubisky in terms of “rehabbing his career” if the former No. 2 overall pick continues to have a lackluster market.

Trubisky never quite panned out as imagined in the Windy City. But he did show some signs after reclaiming the starting spot from Nick Foles late in the 2020 campaign.

Perhaps Trubisky will head to New Orleans and throw his hat into the ring in the event he has a hard time finding a job.
