The New Orleans Saints should draft former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones in the upcoming NFL Draft.

On the daily Locked On Saints podcast, Ross Jackson discussed a prospect that is getting predicted to the Saints on a ton of mock drafts. Jones is a perfect fit to replace Drew Brees as the next quarterback in New Orleans.

Jackson: The fit is New Orleans for him, even if he is a guy who is reliant on having talent around him, obviously that works for him in New Orleans because they have a great offensive line, Alvin Kamara, and Michael Thomas. You have up and coming receivers like Marquez Calloway, Tre’Quan Smith, and Deonte Harris. You have players around him that give him an arsenal of weaponry that allow him to lean on the weapons around him and allow them to maximize him while in the same vein, maximum them by putting the ball where it needs to be.

Mac Jones is an extremely accurate passer. In the 11 games that he played at Alabama as a sophomore, he completed 68.8 percent of his passes there for 1,500 yards, 14 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. In 2020 with Alabama, his junior year, he completed 77.4 percent of his passes, for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns, and four interceptions. That was his final year with Alabama and as you can see, he is very accurate and can pinpoint his throws. Those attributes could be maximized within the Saints system. Can he do it away from Nick Saban? Can he do it away from Devonta Smith, who will be at the Senior Bowl but will only be doing interviews? He will not be doing drills or workouts. Can he do it away from Jaylin Waddle?
