After earning a bye week last week in the first round of the NFL Playoffs, the San Francisco 49ers will be hosting the Green Bay Packers in an NFC Divisional Round matchup on Saturday.

If you're the 49ers, you may be a bit surprised by the opponent, given that the Packers weren't given much of a chance against the Dallas Cowboys on the road in the Wild Card last weekend. But the Packers outright dominated the Cowboys in their own house, winning 48-32.

In their last six playoff appearances, the 49ers have at least made their way to the conference championship game or better. But they've also lost two straight NFC title games, with last year's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles not being particularly close in margin. Of course, last year's 49ers team was suffering through multiple injuries, whereas this year's team seems to be the healthiest San Francisco squad entering the postseason in the last several seasons. A bye week definitely didn't hurt either.

This year's 49ers group was among the most talented in the NFL this season, which is why they earned the top seed in the NFC. Now they have to be prepared for the unexpected against a young, talented, fiery Packers team that is out to make a splash in the NFC, upsetting all the favorites along the way. With that said, let's get into some 49ers divisional round bold predictions.

49ers jump out to an early lead

The Packers surprised everyone last week against the Cowboys, maybe even themselves when they went up 27-7 at halftime. Green Bay could get a taste of their own medicine on Saturday when they have to travel to Santa Clara to face the 49ers.

The Packers have cleaned things up defensively it seems in the last three games, even if they did allow the Cowboys to make a bit of a comeback in the Wild Card game last week. But they had other games where they let leads slip away that made them have to rally back to hold teams off. Four out of their last six wins were by one score. And most of those were against subpar offenses. Imagine what will happen when they face the 49ers, who have the No. 2 total offense in the league?

Christian McCaffrey plays and finishes with at least two touchdowns

Christian McCaffrey

Head coach Kyle Shanahan is perhaps playing a bit mum about McCaffrey and his injury heading into the divisional matchup. But he does say that he's “geared up and ready to go,” according to Shanahan per NBCSports. How much he and the 49ers will lean on him remains to be seen, however.

It's not like the 49ers need McCaffrey, so to speak. They have plenty of weapons around them offensively, but he's definitely been a major help to the offense, especially Brock Purdy, making the running game paramount and keeping pressure off the young quarterback. McCaffrey led the NFL with 1,459 yards rushing but sat out the past two weeks of the regular season with a right calf strain.

Not sure how many yards McCaffrey will be putting up, but he'll definitely find his way to the end zone at least twice on Saturday.

49ers sack Jordan Love at least three times, pick off once

Jordan Love has been an unexpected surprise for Packers fans this season, replacing Aaron Rodgers, who couldn't even get past the first game, much less help the New York Jets make the playoffs. Love and his surrounding young offense have been making play after play. But the 49ers' No. 8 ranked total defense and No. 3 ranked scoring defense should give the Packers quarterback fits. It's also a defense that ranks seventh in sacks (49) and takeaways (28), per StatMuse. Love's second NFL playoff game may not go as well as his first.

49ers move onto the NFC Championship, beat Packers

There could always be signs of rust with any No. 1 seed and having to sit out a week. The 49ers also didn't play a majority of their starters in Week 18, so it will be interesting to see how in sync they look against this Packers team. This does feel like a team that is determined to get past their playoff woes, where Shanahan finally makes it back to the Super Bowl. The 49ers take a later fourth-quarter lead to move onto their third consecutive NFC title game.
