Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is shooting his shot on the track as he's set to feature in the USATF Golden Games in Walnut, California on Sunday.
However, the response from professional sprinters hasn't been so welcoming. We're all aware of what Metcalf is capable of with his legs, heroically chasing down Budda Baker last season with a ridiculous run, reaching a top speed of 22 mph.

But, one of his opponents, Michael Rodgers, who is a multiple world relay medallist, is very skeptical of DK Metcalf's ability to keep up with the big boys on the track after watching the Seahawks star run a 4.33 at the NFL combine.
āAnd he has to do it twice ā and thatās if he gets through the first round,ā Rodgers said in a online briefing.
Track agent Renaldo Nehemiah, who is a world-record holder in the 110m hurdles and a former NFL player for the San Francisco Giants, believes it's insulting to other sprinters, despite applauding Metcalf's desire to compete.
āThereās not a sprinter in the world who will let this guy think he can run with them. They will destroy him. Itās a noble gesture but an exercise in futility. It really is. No offense to DK, Iām a fan of his. I applaud him for wanting to find out ā and find out he will.ā
DK Metcalf is certainly looking to defy all the odds here. He will need to run 10.05 or better in the 100m dash in order to clinch an automatic berth to the US Olympic trials next month in Eugene, Oregon.
Needless to say, the Seahawks receiver has his work cut out for him. But without pads, who knows what Metcalf is capable of. It will be interesting to see.
