The Seattle Seahawks already have one of the NFL’s best offenses this season, and the impending return of wide receiver Josh Gordon can only mean good news.

Gordon, who was reinstated by the NFL for the final two weeks of the season after a year of suspension, gives Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson another target next to receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Head coach Pete Carroll is certainly happy to have the 29-year-old wide receiver back, and only had good things to say about him in an interview with Dave Wyman on KIRO Radio (via Brady Henderson of ESPN).

Gordon, who was a Pro Bowler in 2013 and led the NFL in receiving yards when he was still with the Cleveland Browns, was suspended in the Seahawks’ Week 15 game last season. Seattle, however, still signed him to a one-year deal back in September.

After spending his first few years in the league with the Browns, Gordon briefly joined the New England Patriots before being signed by the Seahawks. In his five games with Seattle last season, the former Baylor product had seven receptions and 139 receiving yards, and should give their offense another threat.

If Gordon tests negative for COVID-19, he may be able to rejoin the team on Dec. 9, giving him time to prepare for their final games. But while he can attend team meetings, individual workouts, and strength and conditioning, he cannot attend practices, travel with the team, or attend their games until a day after their Week 15 game on Dec. 21.

Seattle, which currently leads the highly competitive NFC West at 8-3, face the New York Giants on Sunday in their Week 13 matchup.
