As far as Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is concerned, Russell Wilson was never going to leave.

Despite being involved in numerous trade rumors throughout the offseason, the Seahawks quarterback ultimately stayed put after Seattle denied the chance to have any negotiations with the Chicago Bears back in March.

Carroll recently spoke on the matter during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show and clearly, he wasn't worried for one second.

“It seems like really old news to talk about this because it’s been such a long time,” the Seahawks coach said. “The little bit he said carried so much air time that it became bigger than life. Throughout the whole process, Russell, we’ve always been connected. We’ve always been talking. We’ve never not been in communication, and we weren’t at all in this time either. A couple things that came out got magnified and the questions came out, and there was a couple things. He was frustrated when he was talking, just like any of us can sometimes emphasize something that’s on the top of our mind, and it can be played differently than it really played itself out.

Wilson was initially unhappy with the way the Seahawks front office failed to involve him in the conversation when it came to strengthening their offensive line. But, as of right now, Carroll made it clear where the veteran stands.

“He is fired up about his team,” Carroll said. “He’s fired up about his coaching staff. He’s fired up about the season coming up.”

And with that, all the drama is put to bed. Russell Wilson will be looking to lead the Seahawks to another strong season that will hopefully result in a deeper run in the playoffs after getting knocked out in the divisional round again in 2020.
