The Seattle Seahawks have signed journeyman free-agent quarterback Stephen Morris, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This move to sign Morris comes just a day after the Seahawks postponed their scheduled workout with Colin Kaepernick, allegedly because he declined to stop kneeling. Although, NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport refuted this report and instead explained that the Seahawks actually postponed the meeting because they did not think Kaepernick had a broader plan in place for his off-field activities.

However, Morris’ arrival most likely won't prevent the Seahawks from taking a look at Kaepernick or other quarterbacks in the very near future. Wilson and Morris are still the only two quarterbacks currently on the Seahawks’ roster. Trevone Boykin, who backed up Wilson last season, was released earlier this offseason shortly after domestic violence accusations against him were made public.

It’s also unlikely that the Seahawks will go into the season with Morris as Wilson’s primary backup. The 25-year-old, who was undrafted coming out of Miami (FL) in 2014, has never actually taken a regular-season snap or thrown a pass in the NFL. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014 and has also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts.

Morris was most recently with the Washington Redskins on a futures/reserve contract, but he was waived earlier this month.

Chances are Morris will be just one of a few other quarterback options the Seahawks will hope to bring in and take a closer look at ahead when the team starts its offseason workouts next week.
