Sethos is a 4-star Electro character who first appeared in Genshin Impact during version 4.6. The Temple of Silence leader alongside Version 4.7. In this Genshin Impact Guide, we will be talking about Sethos, his abilities, weapon, and artifact build, as well as his ideal team compositions.

Genshin Impact Guide – Sethos Weapon and Artifact Build

Sethos will be available at a rate-up during the first phase of Version 4.7. He will be on rate-up until June 25, 2024, and will join the 4-star pool once the rate-up period ends.

Sethos Abilities Overview

We already have an article detailing Sethos's abilities, however, for this guide, we will go through them quickly.

Sethos's Normal Attack allows him to shoot up to three times in a row. His Aimed Shot is special in that it has two charge levels. At the first Charge level, Sethos will deal Electro DMG with his attack. At the second Charge level, he will instead prepare a Shadowpiercing Shot.

The Shadowpiercing Shot deals even more Electro DMG to enemies, scaling off his ATK and Elemental Mastery. This attack can also pierce through enemies. The only downside of this attack is that once Sethos reaches this level of Charge, he cannot move until he either shoots or cancels the Charge Attack.

His Elemental Skill, The Thundering Sands, deals AoE Electro DMG near Sethos before quickly retreating. If this causes an Elemental Reaction, Sethos also recovers some Elemental Energy.

His Elemental Burst, Twilight Shadowpiercer, makes Sethos enter the Twilight Meditation state. While in this state, Sethos' Normal Attacks are converted into Dusk Bolts. These deal Electro DMG, and will pierce through enemies. This is considered Charged Attack DMG, and Sethos cannot make Aimed Shots while in this state.

When leveling his Talents, level his Normal Attack first, as this also increases the damage his Shadowpiercing Shot does. Then, level his Elemental Burst to increase the DMG that Dusk Bolt deals. Finally, level his Elemental Skill, as it only increases the DMG he deals, rather than increase the Energy he regenerates.

Sethos Weapon Guide

The values listed below are at R5.

Hunter's Path: Gain 24% All Elemental DMG Bonus. Obtain the Tireless Hunt effect after hitting an opponent with a Charged Attack. This effect increases Charged Attack DMG by 320% of Elemental Mastery. This effect will be removed after 12 Charged Attacks or 10s. Only 1 instance of Tireless Hunt can be gained every 12s.

This is perhaps the best weapon for Sethos at the moment as it empowers his entire kit. For starters, he gains an unconditional Elemental DMG Bonus, empowering his Electro DMG. Afterward, the weapon's effect also empowers his Charged Attacks, where a majority of his damage comes from.

This weapon gives Sethos Crit Rate, which is good in that it will help when building a good Crit Rate to DMG ratio. The downside is that, as Sethos's damage scales off of Elemental Mastery, the player will need to get them via Artifact rolls.

Windblume Ode: After using an Elemental Skill, receive a boon from the ancient wish of the Windblume, increasing ATK by 32% for 6s.

Windblume Ode is a decent weapon for Sethos as it gives him Elemental Mastery. Not only that, but the ATK bonus will help in increasing the DMG of his Charge level 2 Aimed Shot thanks to its partial ATK scaling.

The downside is that the ATK buff does not affect Sethos's Elemental Burst Damage, thanks to it scaling purely off of Elemental mastery. The other downside is that this is an event weapon, so unless the player was active during the event, they will not have access to this Bow.

Ibis Piercer: The character's Elemental Mastery will increase by 80 within 6s after Charged Attacks hit opponents. Max 2 stacks. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s.

This is another decent bow for Sethos, as it gives him up to 160 Elemental Mastery after using Charged Attacks, which his Elemental Burst DMG counts as. The additional Elemental mastery will also help improve the damage he deals.

The downside is that, like the Windblume Ode, the ATK bonus Sethos gets from the weapon substat does not help his Elemental Burst DMG. Like the Windblume Ode, this weapon is also an event weapon, so players who were not playing during the event will not have access to this Bow.

The Stringless: Increases Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG by 48%.

This is a decent F2P option for Sethos as it increases his Elemental Mastery, as well as his Elemental Skill DMG. The biggest downside is that, although the bow provides up to 48% Elemental Burst DMG, the Dusk Bolts are counted as Charged Attack DMG. As such, they are not affected.

Scion of the Blazing Sun: After a Charged Attack hits an opponent, a Sunfire Arrow will descend upon the opponent hit, dealing 120% ATK as DMG, and applying the Heartsearer effect to the opponent damaged by said Arrow for 10s. Opponents affected by Heartsearer take 56% more Charged Attack DMG from the wielder. A Sunfire Arrow can be triggered once every 10s.

This is a good alternative weapon for Sethos thanks to its debuff that makes enemies take more Charged Attack DMG from Sethos. Not only that, but it also gives Crit Rate via the Substat, so players can easily build their Crit Ratios.

The downside is similar to previous Bows, in that Sethos will still need Elemental Mastery from Artifacts to further increase his damage. Another downside is that this is a Battle Pass weapon, so players will need to pay to get this weapon.

Sethos Artifact Guide

4-piece Wanderer's Troupe

  •  Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.
  • Increases Charged Attack DMG by 35% if the character uses a Catalyst or a Bow.

This is a good Artifact set for Sethos as it gives him Elemental Mastery, as well as increase his Charged Attack DMG by a whopping 35%. This makes it perfect for his kit, as most of his damage comes from his Charged Attack, as well as his Elemental Burst (which counts as Charged Attack DMG).

4-piece Gilded Dreams

  •  Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.
  • Within 8s of triggering an Elemental Reaction, the character equipping this will obtain buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members. ATK is increased by 14% for each party member whose Elemental Type is the same as the equipping character, and Elemental Mastery is increased by 50 for every party member with a different Elemental Type. Each of the aforementioned buffs will count up to 3 characters. This effect can be triggered once every 8s. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field.

This is another good Artifact set for Sethos, although it does require some setup. If players put Sethos in a 4-element team, Sethos will receive up to 230 Elemental Mastery, which is the most he can get from Artifacts alone. This can be lowered to 180 if the player decides to run a 2-element team instead.

4-piece Flower of Paradise Lost

  •  Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.
  • The equipping character's Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon reaction DMG are increased by 40%. Additionally, after the equipping character triggers Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon, they will gain another 25% bonus to the effect mentioned prior. Each stack of this lasts 10s. Max 4 stacks simultaneously. This effect can only be triggered once per second. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field.

This is another alternative Artifact set for Sethos, however it transfers his damage source from his Charged Attacks to Elemental Reactions. This requires a more specific setup, so it might not be worth it to invest in this, especially if someone else in the team already ahs it equipped.

2 2-piece combinations of the above artifacts

  •  Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.
  •  Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.

This is just a stat-stick Artifact set, giving Sethos a flat 160 Elemental Mastery. If the player decides to use this Artifact Set for Sethos, they must complement it with a decent Weapon to make up for its lack of other effects.

Artifact Main Stats

As for Artifact Main Stats, get Elemental Mastery for the Sands, Electro DMG Bonus or Elemental Mastery for the Goblet, and CRIT Rate or DMG for the Crown, depending on what Sword you are using. For substats, focus on CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG (based on what you need),  Energy Recharge, and more Elemental Mastery.

Sethos Team Guide

Thanks to Sethos's strong Charged Attack and Elemental Burst, his role in a team is that of the Main DPS. He will perform well in Elemental Reaction teams as well thanks to him likely having a high Elemental Mastery. As such, here are some sample teams for Sethos:

Aggravate Team: Sethos, Kirara, Fischl, Yaoyao

As mentioned above, Sethos will be the main DPS in this team, in charge of applying Electro on enemies. Kirara can provide the shields and the off-field Dendro application with her Burst, while Fischl serves as another off-field Electro applier. Yaoyao serves as the team's healer, as well as another source of off-field Dendro damage.

Of course, this team is flexible. Bringing Nahida or the Dendro Traveler instead of Kirara or the Dendro Traveler would work, as would bringing Yae Miko instead of Fischl.

Hyperbloom Team: Sethos, Kirara, Xingqiu, Yaoyao

This is another good team for Sethos, focusing instead on Hyperbloom. Xingqiu is in charge of creating Blooms with his Hydro once Kirara and Yaoyao have applied Dendro. Sethos will then turn these Blooms into Hyperblooms, dealing a lot of damage to enemies.

Yelan or Furina are good alternatives for Xingqiu, while Nahida can step in for Kirara or Yaoyao.

Electro-Charged Team: Sethos, Fischl, Xingqiu, Yelan

Thanks to Sethos's Charge Attack and Dusk Bolts' piercing capabilities, Electro-Charged is a good Elemental Reaction to pair with it. Xingqiu and Yelan can take turns applying Hydro DMG to enemies, with Sethos and Fischl hitting them with Electro to activate the Elemental Reaction.

Of course, there are other teams that the player can ruin with Sethos in Genshin Impact. These teams just serve as a guideline for players who need a place to start.

That's all for our guide on Sethos's best weapon and artifact builds in Genshin Impact. Sethos will be available with the arrival of the first half of Genshin Impact Version 4.7 and will join the 4-star pool once this rate-up ends.
