The Denver Broncos have gotten off to a shaky 1-4 start to the season and there have been murmurs that the team could begin selling as the trade deadline looms. With that in mind, should the Broncos start listening to trade offers for Von Miller?

If you were to ask a Broncos fan that question, they'd likely look at you in disgust. But in reality, trading Miller would probably be best for both sides at this point in the season.

The All-Pro edge rusher is amidst the fourth year of the six-year contract that he signed with the team back in 2016. Denver has a possible out in 2020 but why not get as much value as you can from the talented pass rusher?

Before the season began, John Elway was optimistic that the team was going to revert back to being a playoff-contending roster. Instead, nothing has gone according to the script and Denver finds itself in last place in the AFC West through five weeks.

Therefore, Elway may have to swallow his pride and begin accumulating assets for the future. Furthermore, Miller's trade value right now is the highest it is going to be for the rest of his career.

At 30-years-old, Miller isn't getting any younger but he can still be a game-wrecker for another team in the NFL. Right now, Miller would be wasting the backend of his career with a team that is stuck in the middle of wanting to contend but not having the personnel to do so.

Also, with Bradley Chubb out for the season, it makes this decision a bit easier to make. Without Chubb on the other side, there isn't anyone who is able to apply pressure consistently alongside Miller.

All 31 other teams in the NFL would likely pick up the phone to offer something in return. Then, Elway and the front office could sift through the offers and choose the one that benefits the future of the franchise the most.

This season, Miller only has two sacks, two tackles for loss, and four hits on the quarterback. The lack of production could be from playing for a Broncos team that hasn't performed well to begin the season. Or it could be Vic Fangio's new defense that doesn't suit Miller well.

Regardless, a change needs to be made that is for the betterment of both parties.

After spending nearly eight and a half years in Denver, it may be time for the Broncos to part ways with Miller. There are three weeks remaining until the NFL trade deadline (October 29th), so we will have to patiently wait to see if they will listen to offers for their coveted pass rusher.
