After finding out that they will pick third overall in next month’s draft, the Philadelphia 76ers have turned their attention to the players that they will have the chance to select.

With a need for a point guard who can run their offense, it has been reported that they have their eyes set on Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox and former NC State guard Dennis Smith Jr.

Although the Sixers have been rumored to pursue their former player, Jrue Holiday, they may opt to go for a young prospect from the lottery and continue their trend of building through it. Both Fox and Smith had solid college careers, and the team is intrigued with what they can bring to their table.

Fox has long been projected to be a top-five pick as he showcased his all-around game for the Wildcats with averages of 16.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Smith, on the other hand, has been gaining steam recently after impressing a lot of scouts during the draft combine.

With only a few weeks left before the event, it still remains a mystery who the 76ers will ultimately take. However, with T.J. McConnell showing this season that he can hold his own, and Ben Simmons’ ability to set up the offense, their rookie may not have to play heavy minutes yet, and could be eased slowly until he has a better understanding of his role.
