It's no secret that Ben Simmons' shooting let him down in what was a horrendous overall performance in the postseason for the Philadelphia 76ers. So much so, that trade rumors have now come to the surface. As it turns out, the Sixers star is well-aware of his shortcomings and is reportedly now looking to make a drastic change to his shooting form.
By drastic we mean really drastic. According to reports, Simmons might just be planning to switch his shooting hand for next season:
“He is going to focus this summer on skill development,” ESPN's NBA insider Brian Windhorst revealed in a recent appearance on SportsCenter. “One of the things that I have been told is on the table — hasn't been decided but is on the table — is examining whether he changes his dominant shooting hand from left to right.”
While this news bit undeniably comes with a bit of a shock factor, you also have to note that this is not unprecedented. Moreover, there has been a lot of talk through the years that Simmons might actually be shooting with the wrong hand, so this now appears to be something the Sixers is taking seriously. It is also worth noting that Simmons is ambidextrous, which will make this potential transition easier.

Windhorst also reported that Simmons has decided not to take part in Australia's Olympics campaign this summer. Instead, the Sixers star will remain in Philadelphia to continue working on his game.
For his part, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers also recently addressed Simmons' shooting woes. While Rivers did not provide any details, the veteran coach revealed that they indeed have some major plans in store for their star point guard:
“I believe, without going into detail with what we're doing, I believe we know what the right work is, and the right type of work, and the right way to do it,” Rivers said.
Doc Rivers literally used the word “right” three times in a single sentence. Did he just drop a major hint to confirm that Simmons is going to start shooting with his right hand now?
