Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has been ruled out against the Orlando Magic due to stomach virus.

The Sixers point-forward is dealing with gastroenteritis and will be forced to sit out their road game at Amway Center. According to reports, the team will start T.J. McConnell in place of Simmons.

It's not the first time that Ben Simmons suffered from a stomach problem. Earlier this March, he also had a stomach flu. Fortunately, he was able to play in their game against the Houston Rockets, though they lost in the end despite a 15-point, 10-rebound, 9-assists performance from the 2017-18 Rookie of the Year.

Simmons' absence is quite a blow for a Sixers team looking to keep the third seed and build momentum heading into the playoffs. A losing streak at this point of the season could see them drop to fourth place and potentially face the Boston Celtics in the first round of the postseason.

Not to mention that they are facing a surging Magic team that has won four in a row in a quest to make it to the playoffs.

The 22-year-old Simmons is averaging 17.1 points, 9. rebounds and 7.8 assists per game this 2018-19 campaign. He is also shooting 56.8 percent from the field and 60.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Simmons' replacement in the starting lineup, T.J. McConnell, has only made one start this season. The fourth-year guard is putting up 6.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest.
