The Philadelphia 76ers haven’t been as successful this season as many expected them to be. They have just a 26-16 record and that places them sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.

There are concerns with the Sixers’ roster construction in a variety of areas. One of the main limitations of their personnel has been their lack of consistency from complementary wing players. None of their options have managed to step up as Philadelphia had planned.

“Your question about the wings is true, we are trying to develop a little more consistency from that area. I am just trying to figure out where our wings are shaping up. Not really anybody has stamped their foot and said ‘this is mine.’” Brown said, via Marc Narducci of The Philadelphia Inquirer. “You hope over time that that this happens in the event it doesn’t we will play this thing out and try to be wiser and smarter in the final third of the year as the run to the playoffs gets closer.”

It seems there is a possibility the 76ers could look to address their lack of impact from their wings through the trade market as they have been one of the three teams tied to Robert Covington in trade rumors. The defensive impact and perimeter shooting ability that he brings to the table would make him a seamless fit.

Unless the Sixers do manage to acquire an upgrade in talent, it doesn’t seem that there is going to be an occurrence where a young player randomly has it all click. This is a need that will need to be addressed externally before Philadelphia can take the next step.
