The Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves (quite literally) duked it out on Wednesday night. It was an entertaining game that was headlined by a fairly wild brawl between Sixers star Joel Embiid and Wolves star Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Sixers ended up winning the game with relative ease by a final score of 117-95, but they were without the talents of Embiid who was ejected along with Towns after the fight was broken up.

Despite Joel’s pugnacious nature, Sixers coach Brett Brown doesn't think Embiid was the instigator in the fight.

Sure, Embiid might not have “thrown the first punch,” but it must be noted that Embiid and Towns have a simmering feud that seemingly came to a head in the game on Wednesday.

Embiid is also known for some of his histrionic trolling of opposing players and his penchant for stirring things up. With that said, while he might not have been the one that actually started the physical altercation, he was likely one of the main reasons why it escalated.

The matchup between the Sixers and Timberwolves was a tantalizing one, as both teams came into Wednesday night’s game undefeated — with Towns even looking like an MVP candidate.

Embiid, who has also looked extremely good to start the year, outplayed Towns in this one. The Philly center finished with 19 points in 20 minutes while Towns had 13 points in 22 minutes.
