The Philadelphia 76ers made some big moves on Wednesday, pulling the trigger on a couple of trade deals that are expected to have a significant impact on the Sixers' 2020-21 season. For new president of basketball operations Daryl Morey, he believes these moves should bring out the best in both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

The Sixers sent Al Horford packing, trading him to the Oklahoma City Thunder and bringing in Danny Green. Later in the night, Philly traded away Josh Richardson to the Dallas Mavericks, with Seth Curry now on his way to Philadelphia.

Morey shed some light on the trades, noting how surrounding Embiid and Simmons with shooters is a recipe for success. The Sixers president also made a bold prediction about the stars' future together.

Via Dan Gelston of The Associated Press:

“When Joel and Ben have had that, it's actually insane how good those lineups and how good those teams played,” Morey said. “That was the theme for tonight. Getting Seth, you can argue he's the best shooter in the NBA.”

Morey said Simmons and Embiid “are going to be here for a long time.”

Excellent point from Morey here, and it's not as if the Sixers have added some random shooters either. In both Green and Curry, they've brought in two of the best shooters in the league, even despite some of Green's playof struggles this past season with the Los Angeles Lakers. On paper, this is something that should work well for Philly.

As for Embiid and Simmons, there have been plenty of trade rumors surrounding them in recent years (including right now with all the James Harden hubbub), but Morey seems committed to making them work and is confident his strategy will yield a fruitful long-term partnership. Sixers fans are certainly hoping this is the case.
