The Los Angeles Lakers shuffled their roster when they waived veteran center DeAndre Jordan. However, Jordan's move to the waivers didn't go unnoticed by teams around the NBA, as there was rumored interest shortly after the big man was released. In particular, the Philadelphia 76ers were keen on getting Jordan.

That interest has likely turned into something official, as ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that DJ is expected to land with the Sixers ahead of the waiver deadline on Thursday.

The Sixers have been looking to add a backup center following the departure of Andre Drummond in the James Harden and Ben Simmons blockbuster trade.

Jordan fits the bill for the Sixers. While the 33-year-old is well past his prime, he can still provide a capable presence down low while offering solid pick-and-roll ability as well as capable rebounding.

Having a backup or two to the oft-injured Joel Embiid is even more important to the Sixers now, given their heightened championship aspirations following the Harden deal. They need to find rest for Embiid whenever they can, and having Jordan can make that task a bit easier for the team.

While it's not yet official, fans should expect Jordan to join the Sixers and hope to improve on his lackluster campaign with the Lakers.
