Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid made waves last week when he threw in his opinion on the NBA’s greatest of all-time discussion. Appearing on The Ringer’s NBA Desktop, the Sixers star claimed that the GOAT title belonged to historic big man Wilt Chamberlain, rather than Michael Jordan or LeBron James.

A former teammate of Jordan, Dennis Rodman had some very strong feelings in response to Embiid. TMZ caught up with the five-time champion and this is what he had to say:

“Joel Embiid, you're doing a great job for your little island or country where you're from. Shut the f**k up, go do your goddamn job and do Philly proud. That's the 1 thing they need, a championship.”

Rodman isn’t known for biting his tongue, and he definitely didn’t do so here. It is worth noting that Dennis definitely suffers from at least some level of bias. The power forward spent much of his early career battling against Michael Jordan in the Eastern Conference playoffs and then playing alongside him later on as a teammate with the Chicago Bulls during the second three-peat.

As for Embiid, it is unlikely that Rodman’s words will affect him or his opinion. The thick-skinned Sixers center is known for being able to take it just as well as he dishes it out.

His opinion on the GOAT debate may not be entirely unfounded, either. Chamberlain was a one-of-a-kind big man that dominated much of his era. A center who is unstoppable on the court, either by sheer physical dominance or finessing his way past opponents, is very likely something Joel appreciates more than others.
