Doc Rivers and the Philadelphia 76ers are in a tough situation with regards to the Ben Simmons trade saga, and by the looks of it, it won't be ending any time soon.

As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported earlier, there is no traction on either Simmons returning to play for the Sixers or the team trading him. Philly wants to see him back, but Daryl Morey and Co. have entertained trade talks amid the stalemate–albeit for a huge asking price.

Ahead of the Sixers' game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, Rivers got brutally honest when asked about the situation. He admitted that it doesn't look like Simmons is any close to returning to the team, although he does come to the facility at times.

“Hopefully we’ll know sooner or later,” Rivers said, per Noah Levick of NBC Sports.

However, if the Sixers do end up trading Ben Simmons, Doc Rivers noted that they would need to look at the team and the fit of the players they could get in return.

“We're looking at our team and how it fits and how it works,” Rivers added, via Tom Moore of Bucks County Courier Times.

The Sixers remain firm in their stance on the Simmons saga, and they surely look more than willing to hold on to Simmons and not give in to his demands no matter how long it takes to get him back or trade him.

The NBA trade deadline is set on February 10. Perhaps there will be more traction for the Sixers and Simmons by that time, but if not, Philly won't be sweating on it.
