The starters were announced for this year's NBA All-Star Game and the names weren't really that shocking. However, Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers might end up being the coach for the Eastern Conference and doesn't appear to be jumping up and down about that (via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago).

The Sixers are the top seed in the East and just a game ahead of the Brooklyn Nets and perhaps Rivers hopes that the Nets pass them so Steve Nash will coach the game.

Rivers has enjoyed his first year in Philadelphia and is a huge part of the recent success of this Sixers team. Joel Embiid is playing at an MVP-caliber level and Ben Simmons is getting All-Star consideration as well.

Tobias Harris has been great, and Dwight Howard has provided quality minutes off the bench while rookie Tyrese Maxey filled in nicely when the Sixers battled COVID issues earlier in the season.

The Sixers don't look like they are headed for a losing streak anytime soon and despite Rivers' wish to golf, he might have to end up coaching the team when March 7 rolls around.

As for the Western Conference, Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder has all but wrapped up his trip to Atlanta with his team ahead of both the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, both of which have various injury issues.

As for Rivers, he knows that being the head coach of the All-Star Game is a great honor and means a lot to the success of the team, however, he was probably looking forward to the break and free time that he could spend on the golf course.
