Hear ye! Hear ye! It's another Ben Simmons update. With 2021 nearly coming to a close, it's clear that finding a solution to the standoff between Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers is like finding a needle in a haystack. But it's in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle. With comets crashing down. And you're blind.
The Sixers lost a tough one against the Atlanta Hawks Junior College Squad on Thursday night, 98-96. As it has become customary this season, coach Doc Rivers was asked about their disgruntled star after the game. The veteran tactician revealed he had a recent chat with Simmons and gave a, um, concise assessment.

It's hard to imagine Simmons doing well these days, especially with reports of his finances dwindling because of all the fines he has incurred for refusing to suit up for the Sixers. Not doing the single thing he's good at must also be emotionally taxing.
Rivers, however, added that if there's one topic he avoids when talking with Simmons, it's his trade demand:
“That's the stuff I've intentionally stayed out of. I have enough on my plate. I didn't feel like I needed to add that.”
At this point, Rivers is just doing due diligence when it comes to the All-Star. While he's totally fine playing without him, the well-being of Simmons is still in his best interest as a coach.
While some from the Sixers organization are reportedly already sick and tired of dealing with Simmons, Rivers is apparently not one of them.
