Philadelphia 76ers veteran big man Greg Monroe sees some Hakeem Olajuwon in Sixers superstar center Joel Embiid.

During his playing days with the Houston Rockets, Olajuwon was one of the most dominant players in the league on both ends of the court. He still has a long ways to go, but Embiid appears to be carving out a similar career with the Sixers that Olajuwon had with Houston.

“Dominant, from the beginning of the game to the end,” Monroe said of Embiid, via Harvey Araton of the New York Times. “He’s a special player, no doubt about it. When he plays like that, he changes the game.

“I mean, the Dream, off the top of my head, the similarities, that would probably be the guy I’d think of. The skills, size, plays great at both ends. Step out and shoot the jumper, post moves.”

Health has always been the only question mark for Embiid. When he's on the court for the Sixers, JoJo has always been a dominant force.

Embiid has career averages of 24.3 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.0 blocks in 158 regular season games for the Sixers. Olajuwon, who is in the Hall of Fame, averaged 21.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.1 blocks during his legendary career.

Both Embiid and Olajuwon are players who score at will and make life miserable for opponents on defense with their elite defensive skills. Philly is certainly hoping Embiid can deliver a championship like Hakeem did to Houston, two times.
