Philadelphia 76ers forward Jimmy Butler will sit out the team's game against the Chicago Bulls tonight, while All-Star center Joel Embiid will be a game-time decision, The Athletic's Derek Bodner reports.
Butlet already missed the team's last game against the Milwaukee Bucks, and he is not expected to miss a significant amount of time. However, the Sixers are still going to take extra precautionary measures to make sure that he will be ready for the playoffs.
Embiid, on the other hand, returned to the Sixers after missing three straight games. He had a triple-double against Milwaukee, finishing with 34 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 assists. He was also impressive on the defensive end, nabbing two steals and blocking three shots.
The Sixers lost that game 128-122.
Philadelphia is currently in the third spot in the Eastern Conference, holding a slim lead against the fourth-seeded Boston Celtics. If they choose to sit Embiid out against the Bulls, Boban Marjanovic, Amir Johnson, and Mike Scott are expected to fill in his shoes.
The Sixers should still have plenty of firepower against the Bulls, who have lost seven of their last ten games. Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris will be doing most of the scoring for Philly, and again, Embiid could still play in this game.
The Sixers have three games left on the season, and they currently have a win-loss record of 49-30.
