The injury woes continue to stack up for the Philadelphia 76ers. Sixers center Joel Embiid left Sunday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers after suffering an apparent ankle injury.

According to the latest updates, Embiid has been ruled out for the rest of the night and will not return.

Embiid appeared to tweak his ankle after falling back into the stanchion. He went up to block Trail Blazers forward Wenyen Gabriel, and his momentum naturally carried him back into the basket.

Although JoJo tried to test out the foot and walk around, Sixers trainers eventually took him to the locker room.

The Sixers have yet to release an official diagnosis, but this is a troubling sign after the team already lost Ben Simmons to a knee injury.

Joel Embiid had quietly been dominating during the restart. The Cameroonian center had a massive 40-point, 20-rebound double-double in a loss to the Indiana Pacers last August 1, and he was +24 in terms of plus-minus through his first four games in Orlando.

As a result, Philly had gotten on the winning track, rattling off three consecutive victories ahead of Sunday's contest. The Sixers seemed primed to gain ground on both the Pacers and Miami Heat with a win on Sunday night.

Nonetheless, things are looking much stickier now. Hopefully, Embiid has not suffered a serious injury. Otherwise, the Sixers will be hard-pressed to make a lot of noise in the playoffs.
