As part of a recent appearance on the Rights to Ricky Sanchez podcast, Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid expressed his desire to play alongside Ben Simmons for the entirety of his career. In essence, Embiid views his Sixers teammate as a great talent, and one he could grow with over the years:

Via CBS Sports:

“I love him and I want to be with him for the rest of my career, because I think he still has a lot of potential, and me too,” Embiid said of Simmons during an appearance on the Rights to Ricky Sanchez podcast. “We can get so much better than we are right now. I don't see the point of ever playing with somebody else. So, that's someone that I'd love to be playing with for the rest of my career.”

Trade rumors involving both Embiid and Simmons have popped up in recent years. While both Sixers are supremely talented players, a somewhat awkward fit and injury concerns have limited the star duo at times.

Embiid and Simmons have shown flashes of brilliance, of course, and now they'll look to take their playoff aspirations to the bubble in Orlando. For the Sixers, the resumption of the regular season kicks off on Saturday with a matchup against the Indiana Pacers, with whom they are tied for fifth in terms of record in the Eastern Conference standings. The Pacers currently hold the No. 6 seed.

Embiid's status for the game is still in question, however, as he is currently listed as day-to-day with tightness in his calf.

As for the long-term future, whether or not Embiid's hopes of playing alongside Simmons for the length of his career will actually come to fruition remains to be seen, but it's clear the Sixers center would be in favor of such a scenario.
