Joel Embiid isn't happy with the way Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown is using him in the offense. He feels like he's playing out on the perimeter too much and he's notably frustrated with the situation. By way of Keith Pompey of Philly.com:

“But it seems like the past couple games, like with the way I play, our setup, [Brown] always has me starting on the perimeter … and it just really frustrates me. My body feels great, and it’s just I haven’t been playing well.”

Embiid sat out the team's most recent game against the Detroit Pistons. The All-Star center is coming off of two bad outings — by his standards — and Brown felt it was the right time to give Embiid an off night to help him regain his legs.

But it's clear that Joel Embiid feels like his body is in great shape. His issue with his play seems to be centered more around how he fits into Brown's offensive system.

Many will condemn Embiid for his honest take on why he's struggling. They'll say he's throwing his coach under the bus or putting himself above the team.

That's not the case. Embiid is giving an honest answer as to why he hasn't been comfortable the last few games. Brown needs to recognize that his dominant big man needs to be put in different situations to be successful. Embiid doesn't attack Brown or blame him for anything.

He says that he's frustrated playing on the perimeter which is his honest assessment of how he's been utilized lately. Brett Brown is an adult and should be able to handle the criticism and work with Joel Embiid to put him in better situations.
