Joel Embiid is nothing if not confident in his own abilities. In fact, Philadelphia's big man is so confident in himself that he's hoping he can take his game to an MVP-level next season. He also thinks that if he can achieve his goal of winning an MVP, it will mean his team is experiencing success as well.

Embiid told Sarah Todd of the Philly Inquirer:

“I want to win the MVP. I feel like at the end of the day it might be an individual award, but when I play better, the team also does. I feel like if I’m an MVP candidate or if I win the MVP, that means we are on another level.”

At times, Embiid's act can come off as cocky or a little over the top, but not this time around. Of course, every NBA player would love to win the MVP. It just so happens that Embiid is talented enough to put himself in the conversation.

And Embiid doesn't come off as selfish at all. He makes a point to talk about how an MVP performance next season would translate to team success as well.

The Sixers are looking to take another step forward next season. After bowing out to the Boston Celtics in five games, Embiid and company are looking to avenge that loss.

If Embiid is playing well enough to be in contention for the MVP, let alone win it, Philly will have a great shot to emerge from the Eastern Conference come playoff time.
