The first place Philadelphia 76ers took on the Washington Wizards on Friday night, winning the game 127-101. However, it wasn't without a scare, as Joel Embiid fell awkwardly on his left leg. It looked incredibly painful as his leg bent in a way it shouldn't and it was feared he had torn something in his knee.
Instead, everyone in Philadelphia can take a deep breath and relax, as the injury has been revealed to be a bone bruise in Embiid's left knee, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

Although this is better news than the Sixers organization previously thought, Embiid is still due to miss some time. Embiid has had a roller coaster of a career dealing with injuries. It's really been the only thing that's held him back so far, as when he's on the court, Embiid completely dominates the game.

It appears as though Embiid won't be out for too long, which is great news for Philadelphia. Considering they're in first place, and the playoffs are around the corner, losing Embiid would be detrimental to this team's success. Instead, Embiid will be out for 2-3 weeks to heal his bone bruise, per Shams Charania.

Even though Embiid will be fine and will be back in the lineup sooner than expected, that's still enough time for the Sixers to potentially drop in the rankings. They're currently only one game ahead of the Brooklyn Nets while the Milwaukee Bucks are right behind them. There is potential Philadelphia drops down to third place with Embiid out of the lineup.
