The Philadelphia 76ers are all set to advance to the next round and finish off a sweep of the Washington Wizards. However, the game didn't start out as the Sixers had hoped. Star center and MVP candidate Joel Embiid headed to the locker room early in Game 4 and remained there for the entire second quarter.

Embiid took a hard fall and ended up going back to the locker room as the Sixers had to press on without him.

Embiid has battled many injuries throughout his career. Still, this season has been his best as a pro. He is in line to win the MVP, although it could also be Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic. Embiid has posted career-highs in points (28.5), field goal percentage (51.3), and three-point percentage (37.7) as the Sixers stayed at the top for essentially the whole season.

He has been a huge reason for the Sixers snagging the top seed in the conference and will need to be his MVP self if they want any shot at making a trip to the NBA Finals in the first year with veteran head coach Doc Rivers. The big man out of Kansas has been dominant, and the series against the Wizards has been no exception.

Embiid totaled 88 points in the first three games of the series for the Sixers, including a playoff career-high 36 in Game 3. Now, the Sixers will monitor his health going forward as he was ruled out for the remainder of the game with knee soreness.

A crushing blow for the Sixers and Embiid, especially with a tough second-round matchup on the horizon. Get well soon, JoJo.
