Game of Thrones is one of the few shows left with such a wide-ranging impact on the culture, so much so that a lot of people have theories and opinions about it. Even Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid.

Embiid offered up his theory about who will eventually sit on the Iron Throne to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne. Although, it might not please Jon Snow or Kit Harrington fans to hear that Embiid doesn’t believe Jon Snow will be king.

“That's what everybody thinks is going to happen,” Embiid says. “But the whole show has been that you don't know what's going to happen. Jon Snow will not be the king.”

“I've studied the whole show,” Embiid added.

While avid Game of Thrones fans may point out that Jon Snow is already technically a king (in the North), it’s understood that Embiid is referring to the king and ruler of all of Westeros.

It’s definitely not a bad take by Embiid. Much like him, the show has spent several seasons trolling viewers in terms of doing unexpected things like killing off important characters.

Even with everything that’s happened in Jon Snow’s character arc to suggest he’s ultimately the story’s hero, it seems too convenient that he just wins and becomes the king in the end.

But with the final season of Game of Thrones unlikely to air until 2019, we'll just have to wait a while longer to see if Embiid's theory does come true.
