Joel Embiid recently underwent successful surgery on his left hand. He had a torn radial collateral ligament in the fourth metacarpal in his left hand. The Sixers big man suffered the injury against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Article Continues BelowThe Sixers are 25-16 on the season. They are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
In 31 games this season, Embiid is averaging 23.4 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He’s shooting 47.2 percent from the field, 32.2 percent from beyond the arc and 83.7 percent from the free-throw line.
The Sixers will be in the market for “perimeter shooting threats with playmaking ability,” according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN. Philly might be more aggressive in its trade talks now that it looks like Embiid is going to be out for the foreseeable future.
The two best players in Philly are Embiid and Ben Simmons, two guys who do all of their damage at the basket. Philly is clearly missing shooting guard JJ Redick this season. The sharpshooter left the team in free agency this past summer to sign with the New Orleans Pelicans.
So far, the Sixers have been linked to Marcus Morris, Davis Bertans and Robert Covington in trade talks. Philly needs more shooters around Embiid to space the floor and give the big guy more room to operate in the post.
