It appears that Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid's romantic relationship with swimsuit model Anne de Paula is getting more serious. So much so, that according to the Sixers star himself, he has become so preoccupied with his girlfriend that he is now on the verge of relinquishing his throne as the NBA's resident social media troll:

Well, this is not exactly the Embiid we've all grown to love, and this is certainly not a typical quote from one of the league's top funny men. Nonetheless, we're still all for it. After all, who are we to stand in the way of true love, right?
What's important though is that Embiid does not appear to be distracted with his off-the-court romance. Since reports emerged regarding his relationship with de Paula last month, Embiid's numbers have been pretty much identical to his season averages. For the month of December, the 24-year-old is averaging 24.3 points (on 51.4 percent shooting), 13.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks in 33.3 minutes per ballgame.
On Thursday night, Joel Embiid put up 23 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and five blocks to help the Sixers secure an easy 114-97 victory against the Utah Jazz. This was Embiid's 31st double-double of the season, as he currently leads the entire NBA in this particular category.
All signs are pointing up for the third-year man, and it seems that as of now, his relationship is certainly doing more good than harm for the Cameroonian.
