The Philadelphia 76ers are signing 23-year-old guard Marial Shayok to a two-way contract, per Sixers.com.

Shayok was selected by the Sixers with the 54th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He entered the draft after spending three seasons at the University of Virginia and one year — his senior year — at Iowa State University.

Shayok shined at Iowa State, averaging 18.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 32.9 minutes per game and 34 appearances. He shot 49.6 percent from the floor, 38.6 percent from the 3-point arc and 87.8 percent from the free throw line.

The two-way contract stipulates that the player signed, in this case Shayok, can only be with the big league team for 45 days before the deal expires. With that said, expect Shayok to compete for plenty of minutes with Philly's G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.

Should Shayok outshine his G League assignment, he could find time with the Sixers and would need to be re-signed by the franchise.

It has been a busy offseason for Philly as they completed a sign-and-trade for four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, sending him to the Miami Heat and getting back 25-year-old wing Josh Richardson.

The Sixers also signed veteran big man Al Horford in free agency. Horford last played for the Boston Celtics and will be paired up with fellow All-Star Joel Embiid in the frontcourt, shoring up what should be a large and intimidating group.

Furthermore, Philly reached an agreement with former Rookie of the Year point-forward Ben Simmons on a max contract extension.
