Last September, Kate Scott made history by becoming the first-ever female play-by-play announcer of the Philadelphia 76ers. It was quite the accomplishment for Scott, as the majority of the teams in the NBA still go with an all-male panel to cover games.

Sadly, it seems many people are still living in 1827 and throwing a lot of hate toward Scott, even though she's had ample experience in broadcasting before joining the Sixers, covering the Golden State Warriors, the NFL, Pac-12 Football, and the Tokyo Olympics, just to name a few.

While she has largely dismissed the harsh criticisms (some even coming from Sixers fans), Scott took to Twitter on Tuesday to share her frustrations.

“The saddest thing for me personally is the majority of mean messages I've received since landing in Philly haven't been from the usual ‘old man yells at cloud' club. They've been from college boys, young men, and other women. Granted, they could be aliases, but they seem legit.”

While she receives a lot of hate, Scott said she's fine for the most part. For what it's worth, the Sixers have been quite successful in her first stint with the team. The Sixers are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-16 record.

Still, she also can't fathom how some people find the time to send scornful messages to someone who's just trying to do her job.

“I don't know what that means, but it makes me sad. You're an 18, 19, 25 yr old guy who feels comfortable saying awful things to a woman? You're another woman who took time to write these awful things to me? I overanalyze, (but) just because you can hit send doesn't mean you should.”

Scott will return in the booth on Wednesday when the Sixers take on the Orlando Magic.
